Dumani in Parliament: Seizure of 65.5 million euros from criminal assets, 8%

The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani, is reporting to the Parliament on the annual activity of SPAK for 2024.

In his speech, Dumani focused on the role and work of SPAK during the past year.

Dumani underlined that during 2024, criminal assets worth 65.5 million euros were seized.

Dumani added that cases under investigation increased by 8% and there was also a 21% increase in the number of people investigated.

"The report reflects the results and challenges in the fight against corruption and organized crime. SPAK's role has helped Albania improve its score by 5 points in Transparency International's corruption score."

The increase in prosecutors from 17 to 20 and the increase in international training led to an increase in the effectiveness of investigations. This was also reflected in an 8% increase in cases under investigation and a 21% increase in the number of persons investigated, compared to 2023. Focus on complex and long-term cases.

In November 2024, financial investigation standards were established. Criminal assets worth 65.5 million euros were seized, an increase of 60% compared to 2023. This includes bank accounts, cash and cryptocurrencies.

"Cooperation with Eurojust, Europe was strengthened and 10 new investigative teams were created," said Dumani./CNA
