Chief Prosecutor Olsjan Çela has responded to questions about the arrest of a lawyer in Elbasan. According to Çela, this case should not have happened and it is unacceptable to immediately take extreme measures.

In his assessment, Çela requests that the arrest measure be the last.

"I will connect the answer to the question with what I mentioned in the commission: we have problems today with the way the functions of prosecutors are carried out for a number of reasons. The case in question is a reflection of that concern. It is unacceptable for us to resort to measures of detention or arrest from a courtroom.

We have requested that the measure of arrest be the last, the assessment must be made very carefully on how we will apply the security measure. There are many ways to get to the end of the investigation.

We have tried to have a reduction in extreme measures. It is a case that should not have happened, it is another matter how it is treated criminally or administratively. There has been no other similar case. There is a verification by the ILD for this case and for disciplinary measures for the case", said Çela./ CNA
