The situation caused by bad weather is improving / Shkodra District Prefecture

In the municipalities of Shkodra and Vau i Dejës, the situation caused by bad weather and heavy rainfall has improved. According to information, water has been withdrawn from homes.

Meanwhile, the situation remains problematic in the municipalities of Puka and Fushë-Arrëz. It is reported that the Puka-Fushë Arrëz axis has been blocked since midnight, while emergency services are working to reopen it.

The Prefect of Shkodra District has also shared a more detailed announcement regarding the situation caused by bad weather in all municipalities of the district.

Full announcement: 

Municipality of Shkodra

* Heavy rainfall continued throughout the night in the municipality.

* Up to now, no problems with civil emergencies have been reported, with the exception of the Kir-Shosh road, where in the place called Dardha e Shoshit there have been rock falls that have blocked traffic and the road is currently impassable.

* The relevant structures have been notified and work is underway to unblock the road.

Municipality of Malësi e Madhe

* No problems due to rainfall have been reported in the municipality's territory.

* Civil emergency structures are on standby and are monitoring the situation.

Municipality of Vau Dejas

* Currently, there are no reported problems from rainfall.

* Work continues to verify the homes flooded yesterday and identify possible damage.

Municipality of Puka

* As a result of the rainfall, several rural roads have been damaged, mainly in the administrative units of Rrapë and Gjegjan, where roads connecting villages are blocked.

* The Pukë–Fushë Arrëz national road is currently blocked at a place called Qafa e Batres, as a result of the collapse of a massif of earth.

* The electricity supply has had occasional interruptions, while the villages of Gjegjan, Dom, Rras, Kuzhnen and Gojan i Vogël are without electricity (Gjegjan Administrative Unit).

* Local structures are working to clear roads and restore power to the affected areas.

Municipality of Fushe Arrez

* As a result of the heavy rainfall yesterday and overnight, almost all rural roads in the municipality's territory have been damaged.

* Massive landslides, rockfalls, and damage to road surfaces have been reported.

* There were problems with the electricity supply in the Iballe, Qafë-Mali and Blerim units.

* Damage to village water supplies has also been reported.

* Currently, work is being done with two fadromas to open the Pukë-Fushë Arrëz road axis.

Lezha Irrigation and Drainage Directorate

* About 40 mm of rain fell overnight.

* So far, no damage has been found to the embankments, main drainage channels, and the Shtoder reservoir dam.

* Water levels in the Buna and Drin rivers are below the minimum hydrometer reading.

* The Kir River has had high flows, but without causing damage.

Rainfall has continued overnight throughout the territory of Shkodër District, with moderate to high intensity in certain areas. Currently, no major problems are reported except for damage to rural roads in the municipalities of Pukë and Fushë Arrëz, as well as the blockage of the Kir–Shosh axis in the Municipality of Shkodër.

Local and civil emergency structures are on full alert and continue monitoring and interventions on the ground. /CNA
