The Prosecutor General, Olsian Çela, is continuing to answer questions from MPs. Asked about the investigations into the criminal offense of money laundering, Çela said that there are positive results from the prosecutions. He said that the number of defendants and criminal proceedings has increased.

"Regarding the investigation of money laundering. In 7 prosecutors' offices in the country we have special sections, while in other prosecutors' offices we have prosecutors for these criminal offenses. Regarding construction, the data regarding the seizure of real estate is positive. I cannot specify where the seized surfaces are located, but the positive approach is important. The figures are concrete, such as the number of defendants and the number of criminal proceedings and the investigation of financial crime ," said Çela.

Meanwhile, when asked about referrals from the Tax Directorate, the Chief Prosecutor said that the situation is not at satisfactory levels. He also added that the quality of referrals from the Customs and Tax Directorate should be increased, so that investigations have positive results.

"I do not think the situation is satisfactory. We expect more contribution from the tax directorate for referrals related to the criminal offense of money laundering. The legal framework is complete, we have the structures, what remains is to increase the quality of the work. The challenges are related to the quality of cooperation. Often the quality of referrals that lead to positive results of investigations is lacking. Both the tax directorate and customs must increase the quality of referrals." , said the Chief Prosecutor. /CNA
