UNICEF/Topalli report: 47% of children in Albania live in poverty
Jozefina Topalli

The former speaker of the parliament, Jozefina Topalli, has declared in the gathering in front of the residence of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, that the resistance that the democrats maintained was able to get the seal and stop the division of the opposition.

Topalli said that, with reluctance, the democrats have managed to raise their voice against the corruption of the Municipality and fight it.

"Today we are in a situation in which, thanks to the battle, the dedication, thanks to the sacrifice, the endurance of 170 or so days, we managed to get the stamp, stop the division and raise big issues in the parliament.

We have managed to continue our resistance every day in the cold, in the heat, we have managed to fight and raise our voices against the corruption of the municipality every week.

We managed to announce all our protests against this government, power, whatever we want to call it, every week in the parliament.

There is no other country in the world that is under siege in every last escalation", said Topalli.

Further, Topalli commented on the UNICEF report on child malnutrition, saying that 47% of Albanian children live in poverty.

"If you have read the UNICEF report, they say that 47 percent of Albanian children live in food poverty.

There are many mothers, sisters, grandmothers here, imagine what it means for a child who cannot even feed himself.

If you tell this to a normal country they have a hard time understanding because access to food is the first and most basic right.

You have to have a criminal spirit not to give every Albanian family the opportunity to feed their children, who tomorrow will become honest citizens of this country", said Topalli./ CNA
