Socialist Party MP Bledi Çuçi spoke this evening regarding the rejection of SPAK's request by the SP for Belinda Balluku's immunity.

Invited to "Now with Erla Mëhillin", Çuçi said that the three reasons put forward by SPAK for Balluk were enshrined in the decision of the Special Court when the measure to seize his passport and suspend him from office was issued.

Among other things, he added that the only new element that had gone to parliament was the wiretapping of a defendant in the "Balluku" case with another person.

"We have said and the public has become familiar with our position that we did not receive the 16 thousand pages that came from SPAK. The prosecution has brought a summary and our role as parliamentarians is not to analyze every piece of evidence in relation to all aspects of a proper investigation. The summary that SPAK had brought was enough for us. In the entire summary, the only element that differed from the investigative file prepared by SPAK, which was a record of the disclosure of a wiretap of two women related to the case.

I think it was unnecessary for us to go into an in-depth investigation of the matter. We need to start with why a personal security measure is required for anyone, not just the MP. And the three reasons that SPAK had put forward were: the risk of evidence being destroyed, the risk of deportation, and the risk of repeating the criminal offense.

If we look carefully, 90% of SPAK's arguments were exhausted by court decision. The risk of destroying evidence, the risk of leaving the country, and the risk of repeating the crime, all three were argued by the court when it issued the measure to seize the passport and suspend him from office. It is clear, and by court decision, that none of these conditions exist to take a security measure. The Special Court has argued it quite clearly. The only additional element that had come to parliament from the court decision was that of wiretapping. There is no other investigative action other than a conversation between a person who is in the capacity of a defendant in a case and a friend of his. Parliament always makes political decisions, we are political, therefore we make political decisions", said Çuçi. /CNA
