SPAK Report for 2025/ 45.4 million euros in assets seized and confiscated

The SPAK report for 2025 has been published. During this year, SPAK has continued the implementation of the institutional strategy in the fight against organized crime, corruption and money laundering, by adopting strategic documents such as: the Strategy for Reducing the Number of Backlogged Cases, the Communication Strategy 2025-2028, as well as by-laws such as: the Regulation for Determining the Selection Procedures of the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation.

Also, sub-legal acts have been drafted and are expected to be completed in 2026, such as: the Instruction on the internal circulation of files, the Protocol on communication during crises, the Instruction on measures for the financing of terrorism according to the recommendations of MONEYVAL, as well as the Regulation on the protection of personal data.

SPAK has continued to pay attention, in addition to criminal investigations, to property and financial investigations. In this context, the Financial Investigation Sector has been strengthened by increasing human capacity, mainly in financial and property investigations with complex actions at home and abroad, including investigations involving cryptocurrencies.

During 2025, the total value of seized and confiscated assets is around 45.4 million euros, of which around 43.49 million euros is the value of seized assets (around 96% of the total) and around 1.91 million euros represents the value of confiscated assets (around 4% of the total).

The value of the seized assets also includes the seizure of TETHER, USDT, cryptocurrencies, with an equivalent value of 14.5 million dollars or about 12.4 million euros (decision no. 583, dated 04.09.2025).

The value of assets seized for criminal offenses related to organized crime is around 42.4 million euros, while the value of assets confiscated for this category of criminal offenses is around 1.8 million euros. As for cases related to senior officials, the value of assets seized is around 1.1 million euros, while the value of assets confiscated is around 100,000 euros./ CNA
