While the protest is being held for the elected mayor of the Himar Municipality, Fredi Beleri, there was a reaction from the latter.

He has asked that the Himariots who support him become strong as justice prevails.

Beleri states that the reason for his arrest and detention is "the seizure of property from local Greek residents, for the account of strategic investors who are mostly friends of the government and the prime minister", reports Protothema .

"I'm fine, I'm strong. I'm waiting. It's been 3 months, I'm determined to sit here for as long as I need, to be sworn in as mayor and to go where the Himarrars have appointed me. I want to tell them to be strong, wait and have faith in God. Justice can be slow. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower, but in the end it always wins. The only reason I'm here is to grab property from local Greek residents, for the sake of strategic investors who are mostly friends of the government and the prime minister."/ CNA
