Proda dismisses Korça police leaders

The Director General of the State Police, Ilir Proda, has decided to dismiss the leaders of the Korça police. This decision comes after a 32-year-old man in Devoll was taken from his apartment and held for several hours, being physically abused and receiving life threats.

The following announcement states that after an analysis conducted regarding the actions and management of the situation, it resulted that the Korça police chain of command did not fulfill its legal obligations and did not properly manage the situation.

Specifically, Proda has dismissed the head of the Korça Local Police Directorate, Erion Ahmeti, from his post. Islor Islami, who until today held the position of Director of the Kukes Local Directorate for Border and Migration, has been temporarily appointed in his place.

The Deputy Director for Criminal Investigation at the Korça Local Police Directorate, Hajri Kushe, has also been suspended from duty until the conclusion of the disciplinary investigation. The State Police announces that it has launched a disciplinary investigation into the entire management chain of the Korça Local Police Directorate and the Devoll Police Commissariat, for failure to fulfill duties which have led to serious consequences.

We recall that in connection with the rape of the 32-year-old, three people have been arrested, one of them the brother of MP Bledion Nallbati, Alti Nallbati. The other two people are citizens with the initials MB and T. Ç.

Taking as a trigger the recent incident in Devoll, where a 32-year-old man was forcibly taken from his apartment, for weak motives, held for several hours, and subjected to physical violence and life threats, and after an analysis conducted regarding the actions and management of the situation, it resulted that the leadership chain of the Korça DVP has not fulfilled its legal obligations and has not properly managed the situation, bringing consequences to the image of the Police in the community.

Regarding the above, the General Director of the State Police, Major General Ilir Proda, has decided:

The dismissal from duty of the Director of the Korça Local Police Directorate, Chief Erion Ahmeti;

Suspension from duty of the Deputy Director for Criminal Investigation at the Korça Police Department, Director Hajri Kushe, until the conclusion of the disciplinary investigation.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Professional Standards at the General Directorate of the State Police, by order of the General Director, based on Article 121 of the Law on the State Police, has launched a disciplinary investigation into the entire management chain of the Korça Local Police Directorate and the Devoll Police Commissariat, for failure to fulfill duties which have brought serious consequences.

By order of the General Director of the State Police, until the conclusion of the competition for Local Director, Director Islor Islami, who until today held the position of Director of the Local Directorate for Border and Migration in Kukës, has been temporarily appointed to the position of Director of the Korça Local Police Directorate.

The State Police assures citizens that it responsibly analyzes every case of professional inaction and in accordance with the law by its employees, taking punitive measures based on the Law "On the State Police" and the Police Regulation. / CNA
