Spectacular Louvre robbery/ A woman among those arrested, what is she accused

A woman is among those charged in a spectacular theft at the Louvre Museum. According to French media reports, the 38-year-old, whose name has not been released, is accused of complicity in organized theft and criminal conspiracy with the intent to commit a crime.

She appeared before a judge, who ordered her to remain in custody. The 38-year-old was arrested earlier this week with four others. Two men who were previously arrested have now been charged with robbery and criminal conspiracy after officials said they partially admitted their involvement in the robbery. One of the five people arrested so far is suspected of taking part in the robbery.

Jewels worth 88 million euros were stolen from the world's most visited museum on October 19. The robbery was carried out over a period of 7 minutes in the early hours of the morning by four men. Since the incident, security measures have been increased around France's cultural institutions. Meanwhile, the Louvre has transferred some of its most valuable jewels to the Bank of France following the robbery. /CNA
