Lawyer Spartak Ngjela shared a message this afternoon following the passing of former Prime Minister Fatos Nano.
Through a post on social networks, Ngjela emphasizes that Nano was a prime minister who brought the true democratic and European-Western worldview to Albanian political life.
"Today, Prime Minister Fatos Nano passed away.
This is a great loss for the family, but also for Albanian society.
Fatos Nano was the first prime minister with a fully democratic vision after democratic order was established in Albania.
Fatos Nano was a prime minister who brought a truly democratic and Western European worldview to Albanian political life.
Calm and a person who has given many qualities to Albanian society since 1991 until today.
The eloquent creator of the Socialist Party.
He was the Albanian Prime Minister who gave his homeland the unique model of the Prime Minister of a European country with Western leanings.
They imprisoned him in 1993 as a political opponent without any evidence.
But he was released from prison in 1997 as Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, and he did not create any sense of revenge for the illegal imprisonment he had committed.
A high-level intellectual, humanist and brilliant citizen, born and raised in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
Cold-blooded and humanist.
An eloquent intellectual in several Western languages, and a collaborator with a high sense of simplicity in the Albanian Parliament, even when he was the speaker of an absolute majority.
Fatos Nano has his high value in the entire building of the democratic state in Albania, and in all the major reforms that were carried out here, and in all aspects: political, humanistic, state - and always with a sense of high intellectualism.
Fatos Nano is so far the most equal and acceptable Prime Minister of Albania in the European Union, as a personality who has honored the Republic of Albania in the European Union, in the UN, and in all international organizations, where he was presented as Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania.
Fatos Nano, so far, is the only Western-leaning and enlightened Albanian prime minister within European civilization, who, with great eloquence, resigned as Chairman of the Socialist Party immediately after the Socialist Party's defeat in the 2005 elections.
But, as prime minister several times, he gave Albania the Western model and that of the European Union, and, precisely for this, he has entered the history of Albania with particular glory and success.
"The memory of Prime Minister Fatos Nano will be eternal, as a shining figure in the history of Albania," Ngjela writes./CNA
