The State Police has taken stock of the work to free public spaces from squatters.
According to data from the State Police, 133 cases have been identified where 10 people have been arrested and 123 people have been criminally prosecuted for occupying public spaces, illegally used for parking lots or car washes.
Meanwhile, 45 drivers have been criminally prosecuted for improper parking that impeded the free movement of vehicles, pedestrians or emergency vehicles.
For 24 hours, throughout the country, State Police structures have been continuing the police operation codenamed "Public Spaces".
The operation to clear public spaces involved the structures for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes of the Local Police Directorates, the General Patrols and the "Eagle" Forces, in cooperation with the relevant Municipal Police.
This action aims to free public spaces and punish citizens who have occupied them, using them as parking lots or car washes, with the aim of illegally profiting.
At the same time, the Traffic Police and law enforcement services are continuing to intensively control and punish illegal parking that impedes the normal circulation of vehicles and emergency vehicles.
During the last 24 hours, across the country, the following were detected and struck:
133 cases of illegal use of public/private spaces for economic activities (mainly parking lots or car washes) unregistered with tax authorities. The subjects benefited from hidden income, without issuing tax coupons.
Specifically:
78 cases in Tirana with 10 arrested and 68 prosecuted; 16 cases in Shkodër with 16 citizens prosecuted; 11 cases in Lezha with 11 prosecuted; 6 cases in Korça with 6 prosecuted; 6 cases in Fier and Lushnje with 6 prosecuted; 4 cases in Vlora and Saranda with 4 prosecuted; 4 cases in Dibër with 4 prosecuted; 3 cases in Elbasan with 3 prosecuted; 2 cases in Berat with 2 prosecuted; 2 cases in Durrës with 2 prosecuted and 1 case in Gjirokastër with 1 prosecuted.
Also, 45 cases of incorrect parking were identified that impeded the free movement of vehicles or citizens, of which: 37 in Tirana, 3 in Elbasan, 2 in Fier, 2 in Kukës, 1 in Durrës.
Also, 3 cases of illegal employment were found.
The action against the occupation of public spaces and informality will continue intensively in all regions of the country.
The State Police has appealed to citizens and drivers not to violate the right of citizens to jointly use public spaces, and to rigorously respect the norms of the tax law and the Road Code.
Any action that violates applicable laws will be punished.
The Police also invites citizens to report any case of illegality they observe, contributing to ensuring order, public safety and law enforcement./ CNA
