Avalanches block the tunnel at Qafë Thore

Deteriorating weather conditions have caused problems for road traffic in the north of the country. Rainfall was recorded on the Koplik-Bogë and Dedaj-Razëm axes, while snowfall overnight affected the Bogë-Theth axis.

As a result of rainfall and low temperatures, avalanches have been activated in the Qafë Thores area, blocking the tunnel segment, significantly hindering vehicle movement.

Currently, cleaning vehicles are on the ground and are working to unblock the affected segment, as well as to clear the snow brought by the avalanches. Authorities indicate that, with the decrease in the intensity of precipitation, the intervention is continuing with more vehicles and capacities to make the road passable as soon as possible.

Drivers are advised to exercise increased caution and avoid unnecessary travel to mountainous areas until the situation normalizes./ CNA
