Mitsotakis responds to Rama with fire: He often gets away with things he

Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements during the "Energy Corridors for a Sustainable Future" summit in Abu Dhabi on January 14 have drawn a reaction from his Greek counterpart, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

During the panel, Rama corrected Greek-American journalist John Defterios on the pronunciation of his name, adding a series of jokes about the journalist's origins and making philosophical references to Plato and Aristotle. This was interpreted by Greek media as a personal attack.

"I have known Mr. Rama for many years, he has a special way of expressing himself and many times he gets away with things he shouldn't say. This time he said something inappropriate and he realized his mistake. I accept the correction, it was an unfortunate statement, it's better to leave it behind," said Mitsotakis.

Mitsotakis emphasized that Albania is a candidate country for the European Union and that neighborly relations remain a priority.

"It is a candidate country for the EU. Mr. Rama knows very well that Albania's path to Europe also passes through Greece," said the Greek prime minister.

He said it is better to move past such incidents, avoiding diplomatic tensions./ CNA
