Civil Emergencies in Korça/Measures for the winter season are gathered

The General Director at AKMC, Haki Çako, has held a meeting in the city of Korça about the measures that will be taken this winter season.

Çako said that he has called on all municipalities to apply with concrete projects, directly to finance investments in the infrastructure to reduce the risk from natural disasters.

"The meeting of the Civil Defense Commission in Korca district is in the wake of the meetings we have organized. The National Agency of Civil Protection and the Ministry of Defense with the attention and appreciation of the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vëngu, within the measures to be taken in the management of civil emergencies at the national level. Today we held this meeting with the Civil Defense Commission in Korça.

A series of calls have also been launched that come as innovations for the application of projects from local government units, municipalities to be financed by the Civil Emergencies program at the Ministry of Defense and the National Civil Defense Agency, which mainly consist in the prevention of natural disasters, but also in their management and rehabilitation.

In this context, we have applied or called on all municipalities to apply with concrete projects, directly to finance investments in the infrastructure to reduce the risk from natural disasters.

There is also the purchase of specialized equipment and tools directly for Civil Emergencies, just as the evaluation of projects for the rehabilitation of dams, for bridges and for all other needs of Civil Emergencies in local government units will continue," said Çako.

Further, Çako said that the district of Korça is one of the districts with an average risk in relation to natural disasters of fires, as well as a number of other related problems such as the risks of blocking the road from snow and landslides and avalanches.

"The district of Korça is one of the districts that has an average risk in relation to natural fire disasters. This past year was, of course, a year that had dimensions on a national scale, and Korça had two or three cases of problematic fires that were connected to the Prespa area, but which required the intervention of all local and central level structures.
