Agreement between SPAK and the European Public Prosecutor's Office

SPAK and the European Public Prosecutor's Office have signed an agreement.

The agreement covers operational and strategic cooperation, as well as institutional issues and provides some rules for data protection.

In a notice published on social networks, it is stated that the parties have agreed to cooperate in relation to the collection of evidence, the freezing of assets, the creation of joint investigative teams and extradition.

On June 29, 2023, the ZPP concluded a working agreement with the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime of the Republic of Albania (SPAK). SPAK is a specialized prosecutor's office independent from the General Prosecutor's Office of Albania. With the latter, EPPO signed a working agreement in July 2022.

The agreement covers operational and strategic cooperation, as well as institutional issues and provides some rules for data protection. The parties affirm that they will cooperate closely on the basis of the relevant CoE treaties regarding the collection of evidence, the freezing of assets, the establishment of joint investigative teams and extradition.

SPAK may send a liaison officer to EPPO headquarters in Luxembourg. The parties also agreed to organize high-level meetings between the European Chief Prosecutor and the SPAK Special Chief Prosecutor, as well as technical meetings. The parties can also cooperate in organizing joint training events./ CNA.al
