Malaj reacts to Haxhiu: Stop comrade Baton, the 'arsonist' who divides

Economics expert, Arben Malaj, today shared a reaction to Baton Haxhiu, following the latter's stances regarding the public broadcaster.

Through a post on social media, Malaj calls Haxhiu an "arsonist" who is divisive in regional cohesion and Albanian culture.

Malaj reminds Haxhiu that dirty money from criminal sources also exists among some paid analysts, and from the secret services of countries unfriendly to Albania, the US and the EU.

"Stop, comrade Baton, this "arsonist" who is divisive in regional cohesion and in Albanian culture. A few days ago, this not-intentional slanderer, perhaps Veton Surroi knows better than anyone why he is being paid dearly, incited regional discord when he declared that the left cannot turn its back on the North for the mistreatment it has suffered during the communist era.

One thing is true: in our material poverty we were equal, just as Churchill emphasized: "Capitalism divides wealth unequally, while socialists divide poverty equally."

All state institutions and enterprises had the same salary as in Tirana, Tropoja, and Saranda.

Teachers, doctors, medical assistants, managers, and workers in every institution and homologous enterprise had an equal salary system, from North to South.

A good portion of the mining and manufacturing industry was in the North, where wages were good and alleviated poverty.

In high school and university, we were the same and respected each other to the fullest, even marrying without any regional, ethnic, or religious distinction.

The only critical moment was after 1990, when many residents of the northern areas rightly came down, even occupying land in the outskirts of Tirana and other large cities. Then there were arrogant and evil-minded people, even like you, Baton, who unjustly called them “Chechens.”

But they integrated very well, work in public institutions and enterprises, have their own businesses, sacrificed for their children's good education, and improved healthcare and employment opportunities.

Even in the US, there are significant differences in per capita income within states.

Baton, dirty money from criminal sources, to some paid analysts - even from the secret services of countries unfriendly to Albania, the US and the EU - where your name is often mentioned in the media, is classified as a criminal activity punishable by up to prison.

Berisha tried in 1997 to misuse our noble brothers of the North as mercenaries against the South, and he failed shamefully.

A clear proof, Baton, is the fact that political competition in these 33 years has not encouraged nor created regional divisions.

The left and the right have their strongholds, but they have never incited regional hatred.

Our brothers from the North enjoy the coast of their country all the way to Ksamil as if it were their home.

Just as we feel respected and at home in every part of our noble North – by their spirit and the magic of natural wonders.

In the early 2000s, the World Bank did not want to invest a single dollar in Bathore, where tens of thousands of our compatriots from the North had been rightfully displaced. This is because the World Bank never invests in lands with property conflicts anywhere in the world.

It was the socialist government until 2005 that guaranteed the World Bank that the resolution of any property conflict remained the responsibility of the Albanian government.

After the year 2000, Bathorah had many difficulties with electricity, water, and sewage.

After an internal discussion, faced with a displacement of thousands of families from the North, we selected the option of legalization for those displaced from the North, before urbanization.

If we had chosen urbanization as the first step, there would have been fewer financial costs, but much more spiritual, unaffordable costs.

The North-South divide would be encouraged.

The country would slide into social and political instability, from which unfriendly countries and their well-paid media emissaries would benefit and rub their hands.

Governance is not about numbers, but about human values, which do not allow you to abandon the needy and the middle class.

Only governments of numbers impoverish their citizens to enrich their oligarchs.

Now you throw the second poison:

He publicly demands the destruction of RTSH, the greatest asset of our national identity!

Any cultured person would offer options for restructuring, not destruction.

Did the oligarchs force you, Baton, to ignite this destructive flame in RTSH?

Because there is talk of building towers for oligarchs on the RTSH property, for whom you are the greediest servant with no moral limits?

Stop, Veton,

that Albania has much more than you – personalities of Albanian culture, who love this country and do not sell themselves for dirty money.

Stop, Baton,

that the personalities of Albanian culture have centuries-old roots of patriotism,

"while you are a bad weed that sprouts and flourishes wherever it feeds on dirty money, and automatically offers itself for dirty services," Malaj writes. /CNA
