Tourism has continued to maintain the double-digit growth rate it showed in the first two months of the year even during the month of March.

The official data on the Movement of Citizens show that the number of foreigners who entered the Albanian territory in the third month was about 565 thousand or 47.1 percent more than March 2023. According to INSTAT, the entry of Albanian citizens and foreigners into the Albanian territory , in March 2024, are 1,150,442. This indicator results in a 35.9% increase compared to March 2023.

Meanwhile, the exits of Albanian and foreign citizens from the territory of Albania, during the month of March 2024, are 1,175,710, marking an increase of 39.6%, compared to the same period a year ago.

Tourist operators expect that the year 2024 will be a good year for the sector as a whole, with a double-digit growth, driven by the international promotion that the country has gained in international media, social networks, but also marketing as an economic country in relation to other countries.

The groups that are expected to dominate this summer are the Italians, while there is also an increase in the Spanish who are coming not only organized, but also individually. Poles meanwhile remain the largest organized group.

Entry of citizens

"In March 2024, the number of Albanian citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 585,467. This number has increased by 26.6%, compared to March 2023. The number of foreign citizens who have entered the Albanian territory is 564,975. This number has increased by 47.1%, compared to the same period of 2023", INSTAT estimates.

As a quarter, the number of foreigners in the Albanian territory has exceeded 1.5 million with an increase of 43.4 percent.

Exits of citizens

"The exits of Albanian citizens from the territory of Albania during the month of March 2024 are 604,102. Compared to March 2023, this indicator has increased by 30.6%. The exits of foreign citizens from the territory of Albania during the month of March 2024 are 571,608. Compared to the same period a year ago, this indicator has increased by 50.4%.

In March 2024, the region with the highest number of foreign nationals entering Albania is the region of Europe with 539,683 citizens, followed by America and East Asia and the Pacific, respectively with 14,267 and 5,254 citizens", INSTAT estimates.
