Amnesty International publishes the report on human rights/ The Rama-Meloni Pact

Amnesty International, the organization for the protection of human rights in the world, published the report on the situation in 155 observed countries, including Albania.
The report notes that authoritarianism is a growing force globally and that the number of people living in democratic states, i.e. states of law or states under the rule of law, fell last year to levels not seen since 1985. Authoritarian
practices and ideas affected or were used by many governments and societies. In North and South, East and West, authoritarian policies erode freedom of expression and social organization, attack gender equality, and combat sexual or reproductive rights,” the report notes.

As far as Albania is concerned, the Report notes as a particular concern the agreement reached by the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Italian government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, regarding the construction of two camps for the isolation of refugees that Italy intends to bring to Albania. for processing potential asylum claims.
According to Amnesty International, the Rama-Meloni Pact raises serious concerns regarding the violation of the rights of asylum seekers.
"In November, Albania and Italy signed an agreement stipulating that Italy would build two camps in Albania to bring migrants caught by Italian authorities at sea while trying to reach Italian shores. Human rights organizations and others expressed concern about the impact this could have on the rights of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, including automatic detention on arbitrary grounds," the report notes./ CNA
