A sad news was learned this Tuesday evening. It is learned that the former Commander of the Guard of the Republic, General Halit Gjeçi, has passed away.

It is reported that Gjeçi has lost the battle with a serious illness, thus dying prematurely.

Halit Myftar Gjeçi was born on October 25, 1943, in Bajram-Curri, Tropoja, and lived in Tirana for years.

Në vitet 1958-1962 ka kryer Shkollën e Mesme Ushtarake “Skënderbej” dhe më pas ka kryer Shkollën e Lartë të Bashkuar të Oficerëve “Enver Hoxha” në 1962-1964. Në vitet 1973-1975, Gjenerali ka kryer Akademinë e Shtabit të Përgjithshëm “Mehmet Shehu” në Tiranë.

Gjeçi ka një eksperiencë të gjatë pune, pasi ka mbajtur postet komandant baterie drejtimi në Bazën Ushtarake Detare në Lezhë, shef i zbulimit në Regjimentin e Artilerisë Tokësore në Tiranë, zëvendës dekan ushtarak në Universitetin Shtetëror Bujqësor në Kamzë,komandant grupi artilerie në Tiranë, komandant grupi artilerie në Lushnje-Shijak, shef i artilerisë së Brigadës së Këmbësorisë Kavajë, zëvendësshefi artilerisë së Korpusit të Tiranës, shef i artilerisë tokësore të Divizionit të Laçit, shef i artilerisë së Rezervës së Komandës së Përgjithshme në Elbasan, pedagog në Akademinë e Shtabit të Përgjithshëm Tiranë, komandant i Gardës së Republikës nëTiranë, në dispozicion të Ministrisë së Rendit Publik.
