KPA suspends vetting of judge Sonjela Voskopi, confirmation remains in effect

The Special Appeals Chamber, KPA, announced on Thursday, February 5, the decision to discontinue the trial of the case regarding the vetting of Korça judge, Sonjela Voskopi. The decision was made by a majority vote, after the head of SPAK requested at the end of the trial to uphold the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission, KPK, to confirm Voskopi in office.

According to the College, the request for confirmation of the subject in office is the same as waiving the grounds for appeal, and consequently the object of the trial is lost. After the decision to dismiss the case, Voskopi's confirmation became final.

In the appeal and during the submissions, it was requested that Voskopi be alternatively decided to change or leave in force the decision of the KPK for its confirmation.

Meanwhile, during the final conclusions on Wednesday, prosecutor Adnan Xholi, who represented the head of SPAK in this case, stated that from the verifications carried out within the framework of the assessment of the figure, no problems were found. SPAK did not result in any criminal report or proceedings registered on behalf of the subject's cohabitant. Also, from the familiarization with the classified information at the source, no data were identified that could harm Judge Voskopi in the re-evaluation process.

Other findings in terms of professional and wealth were assessed by the head of SPAK as insufficient to result in a penalty./Reporter.al
