Requests relaxation of security measures / Today, a hearing for Ilir Meta is held

This Friday at 11:30 a.m., the court hearing for the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, will take place at the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC).

Meta is requesting a change in the security measure from "arrest in prison" to a more lenient measure.

It is learned that the leader of the PL will not participate in today's session, but will be represented by his lawyer Kujtim Cakrani.

Meta has been in custody since October 21, 2024, while his defense argues that procedural deadlines have been violated, as according to them SPAK has not submitted the periodic two-month notifications, provided for by law, for the extension of the security measure.

Lawyers are requesting that this situation be considered as a reason to replace the measure with a lighter form of security, such as "house arrest" or "compulsion to appear" ./CNA
