Journalist Juljan Hoxhaj said today that Tirana is facing a very urgent environmental emergency.

In a television appearance on 'Syri TV', Hoxhaj stated that the situation is extremely problematic also because the Sharr Landfill no longer has space for the disposal of urban waste.

"Today Tirana is facing a very urgent environmental emergency.

The Sharra landfill no longer has space for the disposal of urban waste, and this is officially stated by the sequestered property agency that administers the company Integrated Energy BV, the concessionaire of the Sharra landfill and the incinerator at the same time.

This company is asking municipalities to find alternative solutions. According to the company, the alternative solution is the recycling method, i.e. the separation at source and recycling of urban waste.

This has several fundamental problems, first of all, this exposes the government for the first time and substantiates what we have said so far, that local autonomy has been violated, that is, the constitution has been violated after the competencies of the Tirana municipal council were seized, it was decided that the garbage of all municipalities, the waste of all municipalities in the Tirana region but not only now, would be forcibly sent to the Sharre landfill", said Hoxhaj./CNA
