Today began with a visit to two of the most important monuments of Byzantine heritage and Eastern Christianity: Hagia Sophia, the magnificent cathedral of the Byzantine Empire, representing the most powerful testimony to the unity of faith, art and spiritual power that characterized Byzantine civilization; and the Monastery of the Savior in Hora, an extraordinary example of the depth of iconographic expression and monastic spirituality, which has inspired entire generations. These two places remain living testimonies to the spiritual and cultural heritage of Christianity, born and developed in the ancient city of Constantinople.
