Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha gave an interview to the Greek media skai.gr.

During the interview, Berisha accused Edi Rama of the Fredi Beleri case, saying that the accusations against the candidate who won the elections in the Himare municipality are fabricated.

Berisha said during the interview that the witness on whom the prosecution was based for attempted vote buying was paid 7 thousand euros for his services.

"I understood that it was an old police provocation against him. I later found clear evidence that senior police officers and an informant were involved. There is a secret fund for those who perform "special missions". This provocateur has collected money from this fund in violation of the law, a fee of 7,000 euros," said Berisha during the interview.

Berisha states that there is evidence that the amount given to the main prosecution witness against Fredis Beleris was paid from the secret funds of the Albanian police.

"I was given (the information) in a very confidential manner, but since the funds were used in an illegal and unacceptable manner, I announce publicly in Albania and everywhere that this is a very sad and illegal action," Berisha said.

The Greek media writes that the former prime minister of Albania and Rama's political opponent insists that the testimony and video against Beleris are invalid, since the main whistleblower was paid, while he launched the attack on the head of the police./ CNA
