The incinerator of Tirana/SPAK takes Alqi Bllakon as a defendant

The Special Prosecutor's Office has taken Alqi Bllakon as a defendant for the Tirana incinerator case. the former deputy is accused of the criminal offense of corruption.

As for the other persons accused in the same case, the investigations continue.

Tirana's incinerator was seized by SPAK in the summer of 2023, after it turned out that the company which won the concession for the construction of the incinerator worth 128 million Euros, had as its owners the businessmen Mirel Mërtiri and Klodian Zoto, both of whom were declared internationally wanted. for the incinerator of Fier and Elbasan.

For the Tirana incinerator, SPAK had issued several arrest warrants, including officials of the Municipality of Tirana and the Ministry of the Environment. The former Minister of the Environment, Lefter Koka, convicted for the other 2 incinerator concessions, as well as the former secretary of this ministry, Alqi Blako, were also sentenced to prison.

We recall that Alqi Blako was declared innocent by the First Degree for the Elbasan incinerator. He was sentenced to 4 years for the Fier incinerator, a sentence which was reduced to 2.8 years in prison due to the shortened trial. / CNA
