GJKKO hits Erion Veliaj with a "punch"

Today, the GJKKO, after 15 adjourned sessions without adjournment, since the indictment was filed on July 24, 2025, has decided to proceed to trial in the case of Erion Veliaj and his 29 associates.

The court found the charges to be well-founded and did not return the file for investigation. The file was found with full investigations. This is the fact that should be emphasized.

As in rare cases, we recall the case of Ilir Beqaj, the incinerators, etc., the files are returned for completion, saying that the investigations are incomplete or the accusations are unfounded, while in the case of Veliaj, the court found the accusations to be well-founded and did not return the file because the investigations are complete.

The position taken by the GJKKO is very important for Albanian justice and the specific case of Erion Veliaj, although it has been under constant and unstoppable media and political pressure and attack, not only with portals and purchased and paid media news, but also from the incinerator affair or from Erion Veliaj's brother, Arbër Veliaj, who is another person under investigation in another file being investigated by SPAK.

It has been under attack from foreign media, from foreign portals to the American Congress or the Senate where the lobbying company has prepared a report in which it deceives about issues mentioned in the Albanian media, such as the case where it is alleged that the prosecutor in the case, Ols Dado, had requested an additional permit from the mayor, Erion Veliaj, and he refused, when in fact for about a year he has not yet issued the document, neither the request with the prosecutor's signature nor the refusal with his signature.

On the other hand, the report emphasized that he was an active member of the Democratic Party.

Fraud, pressure, attacks on prosecutors, also on judges Erjon Bani and Engert Pëllumbi, unstoppable and surprisingly not a word about the former head of SPAK and the other prosecutor in the case, Altin Dumani.

A situation to create a diversion, a clash, to create a conflict on purpose, but today it seems that everything is exhausted.

The court has not fallen prey to the propaganda, attacks, accusations and blackmail made public, but has issued a decision bringing to trial the case of the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and his other associates, including several officials./ CNA
