The Constitutional Court condemned the hostage-taking of medical students, where, through a special law, they were forced to stay hostage for five years in Albania after completing their studies.

This is how the head of the Youth Forum of the Democratic Party, Besart Xhaferri, argued the decision of the Constitutional Court that suspended the law "On the special treatment of students who follow the integrated study program of the second cycle "General Medicine".

" The court has accepted the request of a group of deputies and students, suspending the implementation of the law until the examination of its merits. The law was approved in July of this year as a measure to prevent the departure of doctors from Albania, as this law was not consulted with the students or other interest groups. The government with an unparalleled arrogance and with the blessing of a caste of corrupt lecturers who remained silent passed this law, but the medical students became a barrier with their protests that paralyzed the University of Medicine "- writes Xhaferri .

Referring to the mass protests of medical students, Xhaferri described them as a real lesson in resistance and dignity.

" This victory of the medical students is a lesson of resistance and dignity, which will have to be followed by the students of other faculties but also by the Albanian society. No one has the right to take hostages for the interests of power, and it would be unacceptable for this court to issue another decision that would legitimize the taking of students hostage!" - said in Xhaferri's reaction.
