A proposal by Socialist MP Erion Braçe for women and girls prompted numerous comments on social networks and public opinion. From the Economy Committee, where the issue of the day's discussion was the budget for the Ministry of Health, the deputy proposed that the period of the menstrual cycle of women and girls be recognized as an illness and paid as leave from the state budget.

The law entitles workers who experience periodic pain for as long as they need to the state's social security system.
