Cyber ??attacks in the country have increased, with 49 attacks being carried out last year, while at least 20 attacks have been carried out this year so far.

The figures were announced by Floreta Faber, deputy general director of the National Cyber ??Security Authority, during a meeting held in Shkodër for the training of public administration employees.

She said that over 70% of attacks are due to human error, despite investments…

"The Albanian government, starting from 2022 specifically, after a very widespread attack, I would say in that year, there have been occasional cyber attacks on government systems, but also on private companies. In the past year alone, 49 attacks have penetrated. During this year, since the beginning of this year, there have been at least 20 more attacks, which fortunately have been dealt with successfully. Attacks are countless as in any field where there are attackers and defenders, attacks can come from all sides. It's all about how we prepare to defend ourselves against these coming attacks.

Despite the extraordinary investments that have been made in digital systems, processes and capacity building, it is a global statistic that over 70% of attacks come from human error. So, regardless of what investments are made in these systems, these human errors are what intentionally or unintentionally allow access to different systems", said Floreta Faber.

This training aimed to familiarize with the basic principles of cyber security and ways to use the Internet safely./ CNA
