On the second day of his stay in New York, Prime Minister Edi Rama took part in the dialogue table on the topic "Towards a common digital future".

Rama declared that digital technology is a blessing for developing countries.

He said that our country is using the advantages offered by technology to fulfill the obligations that arise in the EU membership process, but also to fight negative phenomena, such as corruption. He added that in Albania the vast majority of public services are offered online.

According to the head of the government, technology is not only a blessing, but also a curse for humanity. As a concrete example, he took the cyber attacks that Iran carried out against Albania.

"Digital technology with its promise of exponential progress is a blessing for developing countries.

We in Albania have seen it in real life and with the relevant efforts we became a country where 95% of services today are offered online and where counters and long queues are now a thing of the past.

On the other hand, we are using the advantages of the Artificial Intelligence model to quickly advance the negotiations for membership in the European Union.

We are also looking in this direction to build a new, fully transparent and 95% AI-based model for public procurement.

On the other hand, of course, digital technology is not only a blessing, but also a curse, such as cyber attacks.

Albania has been the victim of a vicious cyber attack by Iran. We experienced in reality how much this new technology-based world can bring harm to countries and citizens. But there is absolutely no doubt that if we will be able to create a system where the world and the community of nations can make the most of the promises of digital technology and, at the same time, curb all the harmful effects that can come from its malicious use, this world would be a much better place.
