The Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, has closely inspected the implementation of the new scheme to compensate farmers with 10% VAT, which entered into force on July 1, 2026.
During meetings in Lushnja and Fier, farmers were introduced to the application procedures through five simple steps on the electronic platform "eFiling".
The scheme aims to formalize the sector and financially support domestic producers. According to tax data, for the period January-June 2026, the value of agricultural product sales reached 13.5 billion lek, while the projected compensation fund for this six-month period is estimated at around 1.35 billion lek.
The Ministry has requested that collection and processing points issue mandatory invoices for each purchase by farmers, as a condition for receiving direct reimbursement in bank accounts. /CNA
