Information about an increase in the price of bread in the city of Korça has recently been circulating in some media and social networks, raising concerns among citizens. However, a CNA verification on the ground shows a different reality.

Most entities continue to sell bread at the same price as before, denying claims of a massive price increase.

After field contacts, it was revealed that only one bakery has applied an increase of 20–30 lek per unit. According to information, this decision is related to the increase in the minimum wage and the additional costs that the business claims to be facing.

However, this remains an individual choice of the entity in question and does not represent a general trend in the domestic market.

Meanwhile, bakery owners say that there is currently no reason for a price change, but warn that the situation could be reviewed in the future only if there is an increase in the price of flour.

According to them, the raw material remains the main factor that directly affects the cost of production and any fluctuations in the flour market would necessarily be reflected in the price for the consumer. Until now, the supply continues at the same prices.

Under these conditions, the information disseminated in the media about a general increase in the price of bread in Korça turns out to be "fake news". /CNA
