"We hope that tomorrow the Albanian judiciary will deliver justice"
This is what Greek Minister Stavros Papastavrou said after visiting the prison where Fredi Beleri, the candidate who won the elections in Himarë Municipality, is staying.
"We demand that the Albanian judicial branches express and give justice. Tomorrow we hope that Albanian justice will finally give justice to Fredi Beleri", said Stavros Papastavrou in a statement to the media.
Beleri was arrested two days before the May 14 local elections. According to the prosecution, the wiretapping shows that he offered money in exchange for votes.
Fredi Beleri himself has considered his imprisonment as a political imprisonment.
From time to time, various Greek political leaders have called for Beleri's release.
