Dumani: External pressure from politics, media and organized crime towards SPAK

The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani, shared today some of the problems that SPAK is facing today.

During his report to the Assembly this Monday, Dumani openly stated that external pressure from political, media and organized crime actors against the institution is continuing, which is also affecting the integrity of prosecutors.

Dumani added that another challenge is the low number of reports from other institutions.

"Regarding the issues, I would like to summarize: External pressure from political, media and organized crime actors continues, which endangers the integrity of the institution and prosecutors. This concern requires a coordinated institutional response to protect the constitutional independence of SPAK. There is a significant legal lack and uncertainty about the prosecutor's situation after the end of the mandate, which creates uncertainty and may undermine the further continuation of investigations and may affect the quality of investigations. The low number of reports from institutions also remains worrying. This constitutes a challenge for SPAK," said Dumani./CNA
