On Tuesday afternoon, a grand ceremony was held at the Vatican to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the historic declaration "Nostra Aetate" of the Second Vatican Council, the document that defined the Catholic Church's relations with followers of other religions.

In this important event for interfaith dialogue and coexistence worldwide, the World Grandmaster of the Bektashi Order, His Holiness Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj, also participated by official invitation, representing the Bektashi community and the Albanian religious tradition of peace, tolerance and human love.

Before the ceremony began, His Holiness Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj participated in the special reception of the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, where a warm conversation took place on the importance of strengthening interreligious dialogue in the challenging times the world is going through.

Also present at this event were journalist Ferdinand Samarxhi and the Secretary of the Interreligious Council of Albania, Genti Kruja, who highlighted Albania's contribution as a model of religious harmony.

The theme of this anniversary, "Walking Together in Hope," became a call for spiritual unity and cooperation between religions in a world wounded by divisions and violence.

The Pope recalled that sixty years ago the seed of interreligious dialogue was sown, which today has become "a magnificent tree that bears fruit of friendship, understanding and peace."

He expressed gratitude to the men and women who have made this vision a reality, including those who gave their lives "as martyrs of dialogue."

He spoke of the new dangers that threaten peace and unity: new walls rising between nations and religions, the wounds of poverty, the noise of conflicts and the "cry of the earth."

However, the Pope invited religious leaders not to give up in the face of despair, but to become "prophets of our time" who denounce violence and injustice, heal divisions and proclaim peace.

The Vatican's Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue organized this anniversary celebration within the framework of the Jubilee Year - Pilgrimage of Hope, emphasizing that, even after six decades, "Nostra Aetate" remains a guiding light for building lasting relations and cooperation between religions.

In the same context, this Wednesday's General Audience, led by the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV, is dedicated to the theme of interreligious dialogue and cooperation for peace in the world.
