Report of vote manipulation in Debar/ Police refer DP candidate and three others

Journalist Klodiana Lala, through a status on social networks, has reacted to the event that occurred in Dibër where vote manipulation was denounced.

Lala, referring to the police report, writes that in addition to the referral of Xhemal Gjunkshi for "Self-Judgment", materials have been referred to three other citizens accused of "Obstructing the circulation of road transport vehicles" and "Active corruption in elections".

" The Maqellara incident has been referred to SPAK for electoral corruption, after $4,500, £1,000 and petrol cans were found in the car of a businessman connected to the government.
The businessman has won public tenders in the Dibër and Mat municipalities.
Xhemal Gjunkshi has been referred for self-justification.

On 09.05.2025, at around 21.15, the Operations Room of the Dibër Local Police Directorate received a call from citizen Xh.Gj., (candidate for deputy of the Democratic Party political entity), who stated that in Maqellarë, representatives of the Socialist Party political entity were suspected of distributing sums of money in exchange for votes to residents of this unit.

Immediately, the special investigative group of the Dibër Local Police Directorate went to the given address and, under the direction of SPAK and the Dibër District Prosecutor's Office, all necessary investigative actions were carried out.

Regarding the above, the procedural materials were referred to SPAK, for the criminal offense "Active corruption in elections", related to the criminal offenses "Self-judgment", "Obstruction of the circulation of road transport vehicles", charged with citizens AK, 29 years old; HH, 48 years old; Xh.Gj., 62 years old; E.Gj., 33 years old ", writes Lala.

We recall that a few days ago, the DP candidate, Xhemal Gjunkshi, sued the mayor of Peshkopia, Rrahim Spahiu, in SPAK. Gjunkshi said that the mayor is using the public administration and is exerting pressure regarding the economic assistance provided to the residents of Dibra./ CNA
