Accused of murdering former officer in Elbasan/ Court acquits Donald Hoxha

The suspected perpetrator of the 2009 murder of former police officer Roland Rexhepi in Elbasan has been declared innocent. The decision for Donald Hoxha was made in today's court session. Hoxha was accused of the criminal offense of "premeditated murder".

"Today, on 30.12.2025, the court session with the defendant citizen DH, accused of the criminal offense of "Premeditated Murder" committed in collaboration, provided for by article 78, pg. 1 and 25 of the Criminal Code, was opened for review.

At the conclusion of the trial, the court decided: "Declaration of not guilty of the defendant DH ," the court's announcement states.

Roland Rexhepi, a former police officer, was shot dead outside his house in the "Vullnetari" neighborhood in Elbasan. Rexhepi was executed 15 years ago, as he left his apartment building, heading to the garage to get his car and leave for work.

Four perpetrators have been arrested so far for the murder of the former officer: Marjus Tafa and Armando Llakaj, both sentenced to 24 and 23 years in prison, Florind Shabani, extradited almost four years ago from Germany, and Donald Hoxha. These individuals are suspected of collaborating in Rexhepi's murder. /CNA
