The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, delivered his speech at the meeting held with women and girls on the occasion of March 8.

Berisha said that this day is just one of the days where women deserve daily respect. He says that today the contribution of women and girls is manifold compared to the contribution of men and boys.

Berisha further added that women are the ones who, according to him, face the most all the evils of this government.

"I wish you a happy day, which in fact is nothing more than one of the days of the year in which you deserve daily, hourly honor. I want to express my boundless gratitude to you, to all women and sisters, democratic girls, who with their help, courage, and resistance, are the main fiber of the Albanian opposition and the Democratic Party. Your contribution, the contribution of Albanian women is manifold compared to the contribution of men and boys, and this is a reality today. Today, in Albania and around the world, the intellectual superiority of girls and women is definitely confirmed. Today in Albania and around the world, their efficiency is definitely confirmed.

Today, and this has always been the case, their contribution to the development of a society has been about twice as great as that of men, because you are faced with work in your professions 24 hours a day, but you also face work in your families, which is a real contribution to the whole of society and an essential contribution to what a society creates, the good it creates. In this context, the obligations towards you are limitless. Again, I do not want us to forget that the wall of patriarchy is the main violator of human rights everywhere in the world, in Albania, but everywhere in the world.

The battle against this wall is the noblest battle, it is the most important battle of man for equality, for dignity, for human rights. This 5000-year-old wall does not collapse in decades. This wall must collapse and women, girls, all those who believe in their extraordinary strength and their extraordinary role in the family and society, must do everything to reduce this wall every day and more. I guarantee you that the battle with this wall has been and remains a very important objective, among the most important objectives of the Democratic Party. Without establishing equality between man and woman, brother and sister, mother and father, society can never be a just society, a society of high human principles and ideals. But, in Albania today, the one who faces the most with all the evils of this regime is the mother, sister, wife and daughter. This is the reality", Berisha said. /CNA
