Italy's star, the main candidate for coach revealed

Massimiliano Allegri is considered the leading candidate to take charge of the Italian National Team, if Giovanni Malagò is elected president of the Federation.

Malagò has received the support of 18 Serie A clubs and elections are expected to be held on June 22.

The situation in the federation has changed following the resignations of Gennaro Gattuso and Gabriele Gravina, following the failure to qualify for the World Cup.

Italy were eliminated in the play-off final by Bosnia on penalties. Another name being talked about for a managerial role is Claudio Ranieri, as technical director.

Ranieri is currently an advisor at Roma and is seen as a figure who could help the team transition. Italy have failed to qualify for three consecutive World Cups. This situation is expected to bring significant changes to the structures of Italian football.
