It hasn't happened for 88 years at Inter, Chivu close to historic achievement

Cristian Chivu is close to a historic achievement with Inter, aiming to win the championship title as a coach, having previously done so as a player in the 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.

If he succeeds, he would become the first Inter coach to achieve this in 88 years, since Armando Castellazzi in the 1937-38 season.

Chivu could join a limited group of managers who have won the title as both players and managers, which includes Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti, Fabio Capello and Nils Liedholm.

Unlike Milan, Inter have historically had few coaches who were former players at the club. In the past, titles have been won by managers such as Simone Inzaghi, Antonio Conte and José Mourinho, who did not play for Inter.

Chivu is in his first season as coach and could also win the Coppa Italia. He previously won the title with the Primavera team in the 2021-22 season. A possible success would place him in a special position in the club's history.
