Morata confesses the horror of depression: I could not tie my shoes, I was

The Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata has spoken about a difficult moment in his life, such as the fight against depression.

The player stated that the suffering was so great that he was ashamed to go out for a walk with his children.

The year 2024 has been exhausting for Morata, who had a great mix of emotions, suffering from depression, panic attacks, which made his participation in the European tournament questionable.

He said he didn't even have the strength to tie his shoes to go to training. The striker emphasized that depression and problems with the fans were the reasons that led to his departure from Atletico Madrid.

"When you're going through a tough time, like depression or panic attacks, it doesn't matter what job you do. You have another person inside of you that you have to fight every day and every night. For me the best thing was to leave Spain, I couldn't take it anymore.

I was feeling really bad. I thought I would never put on my shoes and go out on the field again. But many people helped me, from Simeone, to Koke, CEO of Atlético, my psychologist, my coach... For you we are the ones you see on TV and social media, but often that is not true. You have to give a certain image because it's your job. I was having a hard time, I got to the point where I couldn't even tie my shoelaces.

Three months before the European, I was thinking if I could play again. I didn't know what was happening to me, it's a very complicated and sensitive issue. It's that moment when you realize that what you love most in the world is also what you hate most.

I was ashamed to walk with my children on the street. Every time I went out with them, I always had an episode, without tension, with people about something that had happened in previous games. And in the end I didn't want to shop with them, as a father often does with his children. I was ashamed," declared Morata.

The Spanish striker changed teams in the summer market, leaving Atletico Madrid to join Milan. For the Italians, the player has become a key point of the formation and very important for coach Paulo Fonseca.
