October's Nations League fixtures kick off on Thursday, with the national teams packed up and preparing for the fixtures.

Spain will first face Denmark and then play against Serbia.

The coach of the European champions, Luis de la Fuente, spoke at the conference given to the media about his contract, as the language used towards the Spanish federation was quite harsh.  

"I don't believe it is normal for a European champion coach to be without a contract at this time of the year. I don't know if the same would have happened with Luis Enrique... I had offers, as is normal. What is not normal is that the current European champion coach is without a contract. I really don't know if it has ever happened before in history. At the moment, I still have the same contractual conditions as when I took over the National Team... It would have been right if I had signed the new agreement now" - said de la Fuente.

Then, referring to injuries and the workload of the players during the season, he added that it is too much.

"We have two important matches, two opponents that we value the most. On average we are playing one match a month. From July to March we play six matches in 8 months. Those who coordinate the seasons, the players... I know that we have to I manage 70 games and this is not normal as we are missing some important players like Rodri and Carvajal. I hope there is no threat of a strike from the players. The number of games and the short recovery time are key factors for these injuries we have to sit down when the calendar is made with all parties: UEFA, FIFA, clubs, players... it's the only real way to reach an agreement and find the right solution" - concluded the coach of Spain.

The Spanish national team will face Denmark on October 12 and three days later they will face Serbia./ CNA
