Lucas Paqueta risks being punished with the end of his football career for involvement in illegal gambling.

The West Ham player was investigated by the English Football Association about a year ago for betting in Brazil, during the period he played for "The Hammers".  

Yellow cards picked up by the former Milan player between November 2022 and August 2023 against Leicester, Aston Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth have become the subject of an investigation.

To put an end to the matter, football's governing body in England had to block Paqueta's phone for two months.

The purpose? Messages or bank moves that could link the midfielder to illegal gambling in Brazil.

According to "The Sun", problems for Paqueta increased when the FA decided to return his phone.

The player actually decided to throw it away immediately after the incident and it all came to light when the Football Association requested the return of the phone for further investigation.

Now the charges against Paqueta become even more serious, in addition to those of illegal betting and non-cooperation, the charge of obstructing the investigation is also added.

The hearing on the proceedings against the Brazilian is due to be held next March, but it is reported in England that the decision may not be made before the summer of 2025.
