Madness in extra time! Portugal celebrates qualification, controversy from Croatia

The Portuguese national team has secured qualification for the round of 16 of the World Cup after a 2-1 upset victory over Croatia.

The first half of the match ended goalless, although both teams created a high volume of play and scoring chances. The Croats took the lead in the 53rd minute through Ivan Perisic, before Cristiano Ronaldo equalized in the 68th minute with a penalty kick, after another of his goals had been disallowed.

The challenge was characterized by the interventions of the VAR system, which annulled two goals for Croatia for offside, first that of Sucic in the 81st minute and then that of Guardiola in the 14th minute of extra time.

The decisive goal of qualification for the Lusitanians was scored in the 94th minute by Gonçalo Ramos, who headed home a cross from Rafael Leao. After this dramatic triumph, Portugal officially advances to the round of 16 of the competition. In the next stage, the Portuguese team will face a super challenge against Spain.
