Serie A club makes drastic decision, Giampaolo's return imminent

Cremonese has decided to change coach after a negative streak of 15 matches without a win, which culminated in a heavy 1-4 defeat against Fiorentina.

Coach Davide Nicola has been dismissed, leaving the team in penultimate place, three points away from the relegation zone.

The club thanked the coach for the professionalism shown, but the results (11 losses in the last 15 games) made the divorce inevitable.

The main favorite to take charge of the team is Marco Giampaolo, known as "Maestro", for whom this would be a return to Cremonese after the experience of 2014/15.

Giampaolo comes after a successful survival adventure with Lecce last season and is seen as the right man to lead the team towards a fourth-place finish from bottom.
