Shumica e futbollisteve të kombëtares së femrave të Iranit janë detyruar të anulojnë kërkesat e tyre për azil politik dhe të nisen me urgjencë drejt Teheranit.

Ky ndryshim i papritur i qëndrimit vjen pas raportimeve se familjet e tyre në Iran janë përballur me presione të forta nga regjimi, duke i detyruar sportistet të kthehen pavarësisht rrezikut personal.

Gjithçka nisi pas një proteste simbolike që ekipi ndërmori gjatë Kupës së Azisë, akt që u cilësua si "tradhti" nga autoritetet iraniane.
