South African national team and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams passed away prematurely at the age of 25.

The news was officially confirmed by the South African Footballers' Union, offering condolences to the family and the football community for this loss.

The causes have not yet been revealed, but are expected to be announced later.

Adams had just completed his participation in the 2026 World Cup, where he played as a starter in the first two group matches against Mexico and the Czech Republic.

He also played in the upset of South Korea, helping his team qualify for the knockout stage. His last match of his career was on 28 June, when South Africa were defeated in the round of 32 by Canada.

Before this moment, the player had developed a growing career, transferring from Stellenbosch to Mamelodi Sundowns and establishing himself in the national team since 2024.
