World Cup/ The host countries convince on the field

The United States, Mexico and Canada have secured qualification for the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, continuing their journey as the tournament's three host nations.

Mexico have been the most convincing team among them, winning all their matches so far and without conceding a single goal. Javier Aguirre's team beat Ecuador 2-0 in the knockout stage and will now face England.

The USA also secured their place in the next round after a 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, and will next play Belgium. Mauricio Pochettino's team had only suffered one group defeat, against Turkey.

Canada, on the other hand, eliminated South Africa with a narrow win and secured their place in the tournament. In the round of 16, the Canadians will face Morocco, who earlier eliminated the Netherlands.

All three host countries remain in the race and aim to continue as long as possible in the World Cup held in North America.
