Magical nights in Korça/ The second edition of the Serenade Festival starts
The second edition of the “Korça Serenights” festival kick...

The second edition of the “Korça Serenights” festival has begun in Korça, an activity that this year opened with a special exhibition dedicated to the guitars and mandolins of Korça serenatists. The first activity of the festival is intended as a return to the roots of the serenade, bringing to the public hundreds of years old instruments that carry the history of the families and artists who have made this tradition immortal.
Organizer Blerta Belliu emphasized that this beginning was not accidental. For her, the exhibition is a way to remember the first serenaders and not to lose the legacy they left behind. In the guitars and mandolins on display, one can see not only the antiquity and craftsmanship of the time, but also a part of the spirit of Korça, where serenades were once sung in every home, whether by teachers, doctors or craftsmen.
“ The first night started with an exhibition, not without purpose. We started from the foundations of the serenade because if we do not remember those who created the serenade, they have given us an extraordinary folk wealth and heritage, we must continue to show it to the new generations. The purpose of this exhibition in my mind was to remember what we have behind us, to try not to alienate it, not to lose its value so that the new generations have the opportunity to get to know this extraordinary treasure and to be sung from generation to generation. The great luck of Korça is that you do not necessarily have to be a professional singer, it is enough to be a shoemaker, teacher, doctor at that time and every family had a guitar. With that guitar they sang about joys, sorrows, loves, worries, memories and the idea of ??the exhibition was for us to remember them. They are hundreds of years old guitars, they have a very great history and for their value because they are very old. Suffice it to say that there is Vangjush Tushi's mandolin, which "It's very old. Vangjush Tushi was not only a folk artist but he sang it very beautifully. So the goal was to start the serenade from the foundations, to continue on the other two nights and to bring the serenades in many forms ," ??said Belliu.
The opening atmosphere was filled with emotions even for today's artists. Korça singer Lazarela Deti, who opened the first night, praised the festival as one of the most beautiful cultural events in the city. For her, serenade is more than a song: it is the identity of every Korça resident, a heritage that has made her feel privileged and that has given her impetus on her path as a singer.
The guitar exhibition was not only a symbolic launch of the “Korça Serenights” festival, but a return to the city’s memory. Through old instruments, family memories and artists’ emotions, the story of a tradition that has marked the lives of Korça residents for generations was brought to the public. From the courtyards of houses where serenades were sung among friends, to today’s scenes where the song adapts to the times, the journey of the serenade continues.
The festival is expected to bring more nights filled with music and emotion, making the serenade not only a memory of the past, but a living value that will be preserved, promoted and passed on to future generations. In this way, Korça confirms once again that the serenade remains the heart of its cultural identity./CNA
